A quick last-minute announcement:
At tomorrow’s (December 2, 2015) Wellness Centre at the Legion in Gaspé, Lorraine Blais from the Douglas Community Centre will be giving a presentation on a new project she is developing involving music and people with Alzheimer’s and dementia in the community. The Wellness Centre starts at 10 a.m. and Lorraine’s presentation will start at 1 pm.
Her project follows the success of several recent projects in the U.S. and now Canada to give out old iPods to people in nursing homes who are suffering from Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Recently, a documentary was made about the project in the U.S. I won’t say too much here and will leave it to Lorraine to explain the details tomorrow. Here is a trailer from the documentary to give you a sense of the project that Lorraine is trying to get off the ground.
Lorraine will be showing several clips from the documentary tomorrow. I watched the documentary about a year ago and I found myself reaching for the tissue box throughout the film. Very moving stuff.
